Report: Leafs' Pilar out 2-3 months

A Czech web site says Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Karel Pilar has suffered a recurrence of a heart condition that forced him to miss the final half of the 2002-03 NHL season and the first 16 games in 2003-04.

According to a report in The Globe and Mail, Pilar, 28, is expected to miss the first two to three months this season.

Pilar was reportedly working out this month in Prague when he experienced dizziness and did not feel well.

The Globe added that Czech doctors could not pinpoint the problem, so the Leafs flew him to Montreal to have him examined by a heart specialist.

The specialist concluded that Pilar has suffered another bout of viral myopathy, a condition that sees a virus in the heart stiffen the muscle to the point it does not pump enough blood to the body.

Pilar, a restricted free agent, is looking to recuperate in time for a December return.

Marchment wants to remain a Leaf
TheFourthPeriod.com
Veteran defenseman Bryan Marchment is hoping to spend the 2005-06 season with the Maple Leafs, reports the Toronto Sun. Just 24 hours after Steve Thomas expressed his desire to return to the blue-and-white, the 36-year-old Marchment echoed the same sentiments.

"I've let it be known that I'd like to stay," Marchment told the Sun. "If that happens, I'll be really happy. If not, I'll move on." Marchment, like Thomas, said he would accept a deal for the league minimum salary of $450,000.

"I feel I can still contribute," Marchment said. "No offence to the other (Leafs) defencemen. They bring individual things to the table. But I bring things to the table that they don't have."
Sign him JFJ.

Sign him JFJ.Yes, JFJ sign him to a one game contract. October 5th, 2005 VS the Sens. Lets see, knee on knee against Heatly on shift 1. Accidently on purpose land awkwardly on Hasek to test the groin on shift 2. That should just about take care of things.

Be carefull what you wish for the man has no class on the ice ;)

Marchment as a 7th-8th defencemen I wouldn't mind. I'd rather give the spot to Harrison.
