On several other boards, it was reported Nonis was on Canucks Lunch

Nonis mentioned Ruutu will hopefully be signed at the end of the week. Also, that the Canucks are interested in Ronning..at the league min. However, he would most likely be a mid season injury replacement

In other news, Rosival signed with the Rangers. The Canucks were reportedly in the running. So, this is good news..it shows that Nonis is still looking for a defenseman

Nonis looks like a guy who should skip a few lunches, not that I should talk

I would rather keep Cooke, and pull a sign on trade with Jarko for a defenceman.

To Chicago: Jarko Ruutu, 5th rounder
To Vancouver: Jim Vandermeer

Eh?

Eklund

Vancouver: Luke Richardson, Marc Denis, Nikolai Antropov
Columbus: Dan Cloutier, Ed Jovanovski
Toronto: Matt Cooke, 2nd round pick from Columbus

I am hunting this down for validity as well....that's why they call them trade rumors...I will be on the phones alot today...

The Canucks get hosed in this deal. Antropov is an injury prone winger who will never live up to Leafs fans' expectations, Denis is worse than Cloutier, and Richardson is old and slow.

The Canucks give up their #2 defenseman, their crappy but good regular season goalie, and a winger who showed his potential when Bertuzzi was suspended.

Nonis would choke on his sandwich if someone mentioned a crappy trade like this.
I'd freak out if Nonis agreed to this hosing by the Leafs and Blue Jackets.http://yelims3.free.fr/Grrrrrrrrrrrr/Grrrr41.gif

I haven?t seen much of Marc Denis but I?ve heard he could be a very good #1. All and all it still sounds like a bunch of BS considering what Vancouver would be losing

Aye, agreed on both points

Richardson and Antropov are spare parts IMO..and Denis is not worth what we would be giving up

Seriously, look at what Thibault was acquired for ;)

True and this new cap era should allow for more goalie movement. This will be good for teams like Ottawa and Vancouver that have a big ? for the future in between the pipes

Would you do this deal?

Vancouver
Cooke
Brookbank
3rd rounder

to

St.Louis
Weinrich
Mayers

This would give Vancouver a veteran two way defenseman. Plus, a guy who can drop the gloves, and bring toughness

Yes, but not if I were the ST Louis GM. From what I understand Weinrich wants to play here, and Mayers is quite the money player in my opinion. Maybe if you change that 3rd rounder to a 2nd rounder.

Yes. A steal for the Canucks. Brookbank would need to change his name to future considerations the way he has moved over the past few years. Cooke or his agent may hve over stated his value, in a salary cap NHL Matt Cooke is not a top 6 forward in $ terms especially on Vancouver.

I read on the canucks forum, that a deal with Cooke is near

Something like $250,000 apart. Cooke mentioned he isn't looking for 2 mill..but more like 1.5

Still too much IMO

I've mentioned Orszagh as a replacement for Cooke. But, he is injured..and most likely won't be ready until the spring.

So, how about Mikko Eloranta Mikko Eloranta Bio (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/player_bio.asp?player_id=1987&hubName=)

This guy is not on the nhlpa king page. Plus, he did sign in europe..WITH an NHL option. Could be a solid 3rd/4th liner

Why did Nonis trade future considerations to Tampa Bay for Craig Darby? If I was future considerations, I'd be pissed off.

Darby to the Manitoba Moose?

Yeah, he will be going to the Moose

They have lost a few players. Plus, Kesler and King will most likely be with the big club

Makes sense
