OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators will play host to a five-team NHL rookie tournament from Monday, Sept. 5 to Saturday, Sept. 10, featuring top prospects from the Senators, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. The tournament, which is presented by the Ottawa Citizen, will feature games at the Corel Centre and Civic Centre, and opening practices at the Bell Sensplex on Labour Day Monday, Sept. 5.
The round-robin tournament begins Tuesday, Sept. 6 with two games on the schedule. The Hurricanes rookies face-off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Maple Leafs and Senators at 8 p.m. Both games are at the Corel Centre. Evening games at 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and morning practices continue at the Corel Centre on Wednesday and Thursday, and then move to the Civic Centre on Friday and Saturday. The complete schedule is listed below.
Tickets go on sale Friday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased at www.CapitalTickets.ca, by phone at 599-FANS or toll-free at 877-788-FANS, in person at all Ottawa-Gatineau area Sports Experts locations and at the Corel Centre and Civic Centre box offices. Ticket prices are $6.50 per day or $11.50 for a tournament pass, including taxes but excluding convenience charges.
SENATORS SALUTE TO HOCKEY COUNTRY
As part of the Senators Salute to Hockey Country celebration, the club?s two giant This is Hockey Country flags will be set up for fans to autograph prior to each game. The Senators are taking the flags to more than 20 events and locations throughout Hockey Country, culminating in a special flag-raising ceremony at the Corel Centre before the club's home-opener against the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 8.
In addition, components of the GM Sens Street Tour will be present for all Corel Centre games from September 6 to 8. Fans can also get their faces painted and receive free Sens tattoos whenever Ottawa is playing at the Corel and Civic centres.
The Senators rookie camp roster will be announced at a later date.
