On the bright side...
Kovalchuk - Holik - Hossa will be an amazing (albeit grossly overpaid.. looks like 14 million could easily be spent...) line.

Oh, what's a little more money, right? What do you suppose it will take to get Ilya back here?Since his father died,I'm not so sure he'll leave Russia.I desperately hope he does come back.It would make a great line.
Only problem is the other 18 players only have 20 million between themselves ;)

Sorry I ahd to do that.Who's left for the taking?Do you suppose some of our AHLer's will finally get a chance?Just a thought.
The bad thing about this trade for the Thrashers' franchise is that they lose the face of their franchise, albeit not a pretty face. I assume that he was most of the fans' favourite player and the way they rallied around him when he returned after the automobile crash was great to see. Now he's gone and some fans in the city may feel ripped off. Hopefully they accept what they got in return and they remain fans so hockey survives there.

I would consider Ilya the face of the franchise. He took over when Dany was out and did a lot for his team. Plays exciting hockey, Thrashers should do alright.

I gather you have not watched Marian Hossa play hockey?
As far as Ilya and & Pasi go, there is a team in Florida who need an offensive franchise player and have a contract situation on their hands with argueably the best goalie in the league. Stay postive man Waddel will do what he needs to do to help the club...

No,I'm not a Sens fan,so I can't recall seeing Hossa play.I'm sure I have, just don't remember.Several people have said we got the better end of the deal here in Atlanta.Change is hard.I know things change, very rarely do you keep a team all together.I just don't like change.Trying to stay positive,I'm getting very antsy.Just ready for all this to be over, get things set and drop the puck.

Hossa is an awesome talent. Very hard working and very skilled. We'll miss him. Atlanta's gain. I hope Heatley can eventually be as good here.

Thrashers sign Dunham
TheFourthPeriod.com
The Atlanta Thrashers have signed unrestricted free agent goaltender Mike Dunham, TFP has learned. "In signing Mike, we have added a solid, veteran goalie with more than 300 games of NHL experience to our club," said Thrashers GM Don Waddell. "This addition is a great complement to our goaltending corps, and gives us the talent and experience in net that is necessary to be successful in this league."
Dunham, 33, has earned a 129-163-39 record, 2.69 goals-against average and 18 shutouts in 358 NHL games over eight seasons with New Jersey, Nashville and the New York Rangers.
Dunhan was originally selected by New Jersey in the third round, 54th overall, in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.

Not a bad signing
Dunham was decent on a terrible NY team
This means Hurme is out of town

Dunham's there as a caretaker should Lehtonen falter. I've heard lots of good things about Lehtonen and that he was amazing in the AHL.
Southern Charm, Hossa is a fine player who can easily replace Heatley in the heart of Thrasher fans. With Bondra now in Atlanta they can sign Ilya and I think they'll be a solid hockey team.
