View Full Version : Your favourite pet
By the looks of things. Bandit, my canine buddy, is facing her last day. It is very hard to let her go (Heck I only babysit he, she is my neighbour's dog).
Who was your favourite pet and what did he/she give to you.
My all time favourite was Sparky my ginger tabby who lived to be 19. She was the feline version of Bandit, the white boxer. Both were loving and sucky to the point where every neighbour asked after their health and what they were up to.
When I had Sparkiy he rarely ate but gained weight. I discovered that all the neighbours were putting out gourmet cat food for him. When he finally had to be put down, the neighbourhood held a "suprise memorial servce" for him. I was invited to supper at one house and everyone was there.
Bandit will be as hard to say goodbye to as Sparky. She helped me through my depression to the point that I have started painting again and have sold 2 of my works.
OMG I am babbling again.
Just say what you have to about your former pets or present ones and whatever............

Border Collie named Tipsy. She had white tips on her paws and tail.(hey I was 6)
She had the best temperment. She would allow you to handle her pups before they were even dry. She was a huge suck. She was very chubby yet she was the best hunting dog I've ever even heard of.
Tipsy could catch mice and moles with ease. I watched her stalk chipmunks, but the little buggers were too quick. Her best trick was catching birds. I don't how but she would bring home blackbirds and robins and leave them on the front yard.
Once I took some friends to see my Grandads barn and the rooster attacked us. We left, but that night Tipsy went back and got in some how, and killed the rooster. Which she then proudly brought back to the house for display. My grandad rented the barn and that rooster cost me $40.

I have to agree with you there. We used to have a cat named Thunder that had that "I'll do what I want to, when I want to" attitude. He was a stray siamese mix that we found while camping down by the river one summer. He was skinny as hell when we brought him home, but about 3 months later he was one of biggest, laziest cats I've ever seen. He'd usually lay on top of the couch all day, and would occasionallly get up to eat and "do his business". One of the funniest pets I've ever had. We had to get rid of him though when my sister became allergic to cat fur.
Now we have three dogs, 2 little Cairn Terriers, and a German Shepard. It's hilarious because the two little dogs think they're big dogs, but the Shepard thinks it's a little dog. Nothing like having a 70+ pound dog trying to jump into your lap when you sit down.

Doc my old cat was a real pistol, basically just sat around on my plush Sens blanket, ate and slept at the top of my pillow at nights, same as yours by the sounds of it.
But if I was playing with her and p!ssed her off, she'd throw a left paw that would actually make me laugh & rub my chin in pain. Classic.
When I move next month the first thing I'm going to do is go to the humane society and get a kitten, who will be promptly named 'Disco'.

Used to have a pure-bred Golden Retriever named, Zeus. He was given to me (as a puppy) for my birthday by one of my former sweeties.
Dog backwards = god. For those not in the know...Zeus was the supreme ruler of Mount Olympus and of the Pantheon of gods who resided there. Zeus was the big dog of all the gods.
It was all fun and games until my sweetie decided to split the sheets and then took him with her. Never saw Zeus again. She buggered off to Australia for a teaching stint and apparently gave him away to complete strangers.
You don't take a guy's dog. That is just so wrong.
First there is Cujo.

Then there is Maxine our Manx.

And last but not least, Meeko.........

They all bring something different to the table.
I don't actually own pets per se... but the house where I live has a great border collie who is trained to run agility courses. He's still learning, but his time in the weave poles is up at the world competition level. (that's just a bunch of poles in a row that stick out of the ground and the dogs "weave" through them at high speed). He's way cool. :pimp:
We also have a parrot that talks more than I do. Freaky things those African greys are... lots of odd behavior. They never cease to amaze. Their intellect goes well beyond mimicking sounds.
I am not a big fan of cats... well I'll just admit it, I hate cats. They make me tired, with all of their sleeping all the time. Usually if I see a sleeping cat, I will give it a nudge to wake it up.... for no reason whatsoever.
I like the 'screw-you' attitude of cats myself..
Then you would love Rufus that cat that owns the home I live in. She is 16 and quite small but seems to grow during the night and takes up most of the bed. If she is in s p!ssy mood she will claw my feet if they go on her 3/4 of the bed. It seems my purpose in life is to feed her and clean up after her.

I really think it's tacky when people dress up their pets, but if Sam here, was my dog... I'd probably want to cover him with a lot of loud clothes.

Sorry about the big pic.... but some pictures just need to be looked at close up to really appreciate its beauty...
some more good pics of sam if you follow his site to his web blog...
Sam... world's ugliest dog. (http://www.samugliestdog.com/)
I have one cat, who is a house cat, since she has been declawed and fixed. I figure Harley is about 11-13 years old. I have owned her for nearly nine of those years.
She enjoys sleeping for about 18 hours a day and is a typical hypocritical cat - waking us up early to feed her, but getting mad at us for waking her up. Harley was named after Harley Davidson motorcycles, because of her calico colours being similar to the company's colours.
And now to get that image of that ugly dog out of your head, here once again is my cat, Harley Belle. :D

Well Bandit beat the odds and bounced back. Unfortunaely she has refused to eat for the past 5 days and had to be put to sleep a couple of hours ago.
My neighbour asked me to go along because he didn't want to go by himself. He has never had to have an animal put to sleep and was uncomfortable with the idea.
We were with her the whole time and she went very quickly.
RIP best pal, great companion, and all round good dog.
Rest eternal grant unto her O Lord
and let perpetual life shine upon her
May her soul and the souls of all the dreparted, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

That's too bad a4l. It's strange how attached we can get to an animal.

I just knew you were probably from a racing family. As for me, the *&^%$#@ cat has been missing for a month. But we're keeping the litter box warm.

Check the trunk of your car... they don't like being left home alone on those cottage weekends.

No. Because of your huge hind legs.

Looks like there was enough "Fliffy" to feed a small army.
