I was on the CBS website today and noticed that the cast for new installment of The Amazing Race (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race8/) has been released. This year they'll be doing a family edition, and I think it'll put the two teams with children at a great disadvantage. Having an 8 year old and 9 year old on your team will be a major disadvantage in the race around the world. Especially when you consider that there's teams who don't have a member under the age of 20. It would be a lot more fair if they made it so each team had to consist of at least one child, so everybody has the same anchor.
Also, the cast of Survivor (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor11/) has been released. This year it will be in Guatemala, and I heard that the survivors will be living in Mayan ruins. Should be good stuff :thumb:
Also, Big Brother 6 is currently going on, and this has to be the dumbest cast in the history of the show. Nobody is thinking strategy, and it looks like the person I hate the most (Maggie) could go all the way :curse:
I hope there are others like me on HS, so I won't be talking to myself

Nah, its not the Canucks section. So no worries :thumb:
I like the amazing race..great show. Not so sure about the kids though. That would really be a disadvantage.
I'd like to see chip and kim back in it again 8)

Hmm the new survivor named Danni has an interesting bio =]
Definitely.
I know who I'll be cheering for now
I think I'd rather push my fingers into my eyes than watch reality TV. However.. I think I need to see this bio :]
There is nothing of interest in her bio. I quit watching reality shows after Survivor 2. How real is a program that has a weeks worth of activity compressed into an hour?
There is nothing of interest in her bio.What? Are you kidding? Must be the estrogen in you or something. =}
She's a sports talk radio host, her favourite game is blackjack, enjoys running, basketball, volleyball and fishing. Not to mention her favourite shows are Pardon the Interuption, SportsCenter and Around the Horn. Also she reads Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine and The Sporting News. Wow. Undoubtedly the ultimate woman.
How real is a program that has a weeks worth of activity compressed into an hour?Three days of activity into an hour, actually.
To be honest, I lost interest around the conclusion of Survivor Six, but Danni may just be drawing my interest back for G-Mala. :thumb:

I had always heard that there were people who actually watched reality shows, but I'd never actually met anyone who did. So my theory was that no one watched them since I could never find anyone to admit to it. You people proved me wrong. ;)
Hrmm, her face has man features, I mean look at her jaw??? I have a feeling that maybe......ahhh never mind I won't go where Springer goes ;)
I am reality showed out, except the amazing race.

J.R.'s right. Any women who likes PTI, Around the Horn and SportsCenter is good in my books. I like the fact that she admits to being a Royals fan too. They suck big time, so you know she's a die hard fan
Her name is Danni so its quite possible her name in a former ummm state could have been Dan :eyebug:

You said you wouldn't touch the Springer stuff :conspire: :no:ok ok, I'll leave it alone!!! LOL
The funny thing is I had the same observation about her manliness but didn't say anything. Maybe this is the survivor surprise to boost the ratings.

Now you guys just went and ruined her for me? But the fact that A4L hates a woman she doesn?t even know is intriguing at the least. I like that kind of spunk in a woman. =]

Survivor starts Thursday. Lets go Danni :pimp:
I'm sure Rusty is ready for another season :)
It looks like two ex-Survivors will be back on this season in some role.

The Kinks - Lola
ooops wrong thread ;)That's hilarious. And I'm not saying that because I'm the biggest Kinks fan here.
I watched the first episode of Survivor since the finale of Survivor 7 in Panama's Pearl Islands.
I didn't really like the twist of bringing back former Survivors. Too many reality shows have already done that. I find it cooler that they have selected former NFL quarterback Gary Hogeboom to participate. It's a good idea by him to keep his mouth shut and not allow the others to find out who his is. So far things are tough. After the challenge to reach their camp, most of the guys were puking their guts out. I haven't seen that before.
I'm not sure yet if I'll keep watching, but I will give it another episode and decide then. But I think it'll be up against The Apprentice. The Donald will probably win my rating. :)

I've heard rumours that Danni knows who Gary really is. It'll be interesting to see if she calls him out on it, or saves that piece of info until later in the game.
Also, am I the only one who'll be watching Martha Stewart's Apprentice this Wednesday?

I can't believe that people are so hooked on those shows. I got bored after the second Survivor and haven't watched a "reality" show since.

I got hooked on Survivor because they had pools at work but other then that I can?t stand them. The apprentice was good the first season but I couldn?t be bothered with the second when it came evident within the first or second show that Trump had managed to become even more arrogant then humanly possible. He even agreed to have the king song play every time he entered the room at the beginning of each show. Also the first season seemed more real and professional but the second was just about drama. Evidently Trump didn?t care about his professional image as he was becoming a TV star.
I have never seen Rock Star INXS, but I was talking to someone on the weekend who started telling me in detail all about the show and the "awesomely talented" singers that were sure to be big stars very soon. I bit my tongue and did not offer much of my actual opinion on %$#@ like this... that it is all staged by boring old fat TV executives and that if these wannabe musicians had any real appeal to the general public they would be actual musicians etc...
I am not the target audience.
Also, am I the only one who'll be watching Martha Stewart's Apprentice this Wednesday? You will be the only guy watching along with millions of women.
Ahh, you are a guy, right?
Maybe you will learn some decorating tips to impress the girls at school. What girl doesn't want a guy who can make his own curtains.

I am not the target audience. The target audience is the same bunch of mindless teenagers who think American Idol is a showcase for talent.
INXS would have been better off doing an off camera talent search in Australia, find a new singer, put out a new album and go on tour. I'm sure true fans would embrace the band once again and new fans would emerge. This media cesspool of a tv show doesn't help the band, it turns off the real fans.

Yes but the describer was no teenager. And he is a talented rock musician himself. It brought my opinion of his musical taste down to approximately zero.

Maybe he's lightened up since the second season. Does he still have the king song play every time he enters the room at the beginning of the show? There were a few other things that also budged me. It seemed more like his boardroom canings were based on drama rather then lack of skill and professionalism. To me I just appreciated the original theme rather then what the show evolved to
John O'Hurley and his professional dancing partner, Charlotte Jorgensen won the rematch of "Dancing with the Stars". Good to see O'Hurley (Mr Peterman from Seinfeld) beat that soap opera fluff, Monaco, in what was strictly a vote by viewers.
Fox News (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,170206,00.html) says
The rematch followed audience complaints that the show's voting process, which relied on both viewers and judges, was confusing. Questions also were raised about possible network favoritism for Monaco, who stars in the ABC soap opera "General Hospital."Darn tootin, the first championship was rigged. O'hurley and Jorgensen schooled Monaco and her professional partner during the first season and should have won the title. Also, the conspiracist in me says the ABC wanted their employee to win the trophy.
http://www.foxnews.com/images/169566/1_23_070505_hurley.jpg
By the way, I missed the rematch but saw most of the first season. Thought it was an ok show and nothing else was on. Once O'Hurley started kicking butt, I tuned in for every show. Also, the professional dancing women were hot. :D

I would have preferred that INXS found their singer from Australia as they have lots of good singers down there that get no exposure. This Idol thing will turn off alot of their real fans but at the same time the fans that they've just gained are going to be in the hundreds of thousands.I can see when their new album comes out it will be a Top 10 hit and will sell alot better due to this exposure than if they were to do an off camera talent search. This band will be sucessful all because of this show.I wish them well!
Cheers

I just wanted to see what Martha's version of "You're fired!" would be. Needless to say I'm not watching that again, she didn't even get angry in the boardroom.
Donald's Apprentice has an interesting twist this year. It's men vs. women, and the women are already tearing each other apart
Hmmm...somebody who broke the law and served time getting their own primetime reality TV show...only in America.
I shouldn't talk though, I've been watching Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive on E the last few weeks.:D
Hmmm...somebody who broke the law and served time getting their own primetime reality TV show...only in America. She also got a new daytime show called Martha. And in less than a month, she'll have her own satellite radio show.
Question: If The Apprentice: Martha Stewart was filmed in "summer 2005" in New York City and she was under house arrest in Connecticut, then how was that possible?
I do like the reality shows for the most part, The Donald and that biotch Martha are not on my limited viewing list.
Eventually Gary will be found out, he has denied/lied to his tribe as Danni did point out he was an ex-NFL'er.
Can't wait for the AR to kick off.
Can't wait for the AR to kick off. It's going to be interesting to see how this family version is going to work. The teams with younger kids are definitely going to be at a disadvantage when it comes to tasks, especially the physical ones. I'm excited about it too.
I did not watch week two of Survivor.

I'm assuming at least a few of you watched the premier of the Amazing Race.
I'm pulling for the Gaghan family. They have a good attitude, and I want to see if they can pull it off while having kids on the team. I wasn't so fond of the Paolo family, I was hoping the mom would slap one of those spoiled kids. What a pair of brats.
Another thing I noticed is that it seems like they've gone from more worldly image, to a more family-values type of image. I know we're not suposed to talk religion here but I couldn't help but notice it. Like that one weird exchange with the man at the truck stop/gas station who gave one team a map.
- I can't remember word for word, but it went something like this:
Mother: God bless you.
Man: God bless you too.
Mother: Are you a follower of the Lord?
Man: I definitely follow the Lord.
*high five*
Mother: I'll be spending eternity with you brother.
:conspire:
Maybe I'm just weird, but I thought that was an odd thing to air.
Anyway, good first episode.

Yeah, I kinda noticed that. I noticed that the people involved in the game (like the colonel in the boat) were helpful and even though they were officially part of the game, they were not silent like in past seasons.
Good episode, and I plan to watch some more.
I guess having kids is an advantage in some stages of the race..like Buggy it..they had to push a light buggy compared to a heavy buggy filled with two adults. I figured they'd be a hindrance to all teams with under 12 year old kids.

I really hope this race eventually leaves North America, or it will be pretty lame. As one article put it, this could be "a big summer field trip."

Well Stephanie's tribe loses again, and Brianna was voted out of the tribe.
Danni also impressed with her performance in the basketball-like competition. Her and Stephanie were all over each other most of the time they were on the "court" at the same time, and it was some good watching
I almost watched it last night. Ok I saw the introduction but as soon as the theme music started I was bored.
From what I have seen and heard The AR is going to be winding it's way throughout the US and may head down to South America.
I was really starting to get tired with the "raw raw we are so proud to be Americans, living in the greatest country in the universe" line I tuned out some of the race.

Aye, that sort of stuff makes me want to puke :relief
I missed the first episode. However, family edition sounds pretty lame..IMO. A family with two kids? Stick a fork in them, they are done
