This was far from a classic brawl but I'll never forget it for the humorous aspect of it.
Joey Kocur spent his later years as a Ranger. He was past his prime, but still a pretty scary individual. Not too many wanted to mess with Kocur.
Up and coming tough guy Claude Boivin of the Flyers went at Kocur one night. They were just squaring off when Kocur threw a quick right upper cut that landed Boivin on the seat of his pants.
The linesmen jumped in and literally Kocur and both linesmen, all 3 of them, were laughing out loud.
Boivin jumped up unhurt (he might have even slipped) but the embarassment was done.
Back in those days, with a young Tie Domi and a veteran Joe Kocur... the Rags had a pretty formidable duo for the rough stuff. ;)
My favourite was in the 1960's when Montr?al and Toronto had a bench clearing brawl. It took them at least 5 minutes to figure out all of the penalties, that had to be staggered so that there were enough players on the ice to play the game.
Although very ugly, built up by a very heated bitter rivalry, the Good Friday brawl between the Montreal Canadiens and the Quebec Nordiques. Good memory because the Habs ended up winning, but bad because this was Jean Hamel's last game in the NHL, suffering a serious eye injury thanks to a cheap shot by Louis Sleigher (sp?)...

A couple years ago, there was a fight between Tucker and Barnaby that was just fantastic to watch. It started off kinda slow with a bunch of jersey grabbing, but when they started throwing them, it was like they were just trying to knock the other one out. And while it may not have been a Domi-Probert heavyweight tussle, these two guys really had at it and it was very entertaining to watch. If you want to see it, it was in one of the Don Cherry Rock'Em Sock'Em Videos(I think 12 or 13)

There are a couple. Boaton and New York Rangers in the early 70's. Toronto and the Flyers in the late 70's where the Metro Toronto police got involved, remember those Doug?
1994 - Adam Graves vs. Mike Peluso in Chicago.
Gravy was an adequate fighter all right. but it wasn't his main role (actually that was the year he scored 50 goals)
But one thing for sure, on Messier's line he was Messier's body guard. He took people messing with any of his teammates to heart.
I forget what led to it but The rags were visiting Chicago, and Graves squared off with Peluso and gave him a thorough beating. It was beautiful. the much bigger Peluso wound up on his knees still trying to fight. Gravy just owned him. It was unbelievable. I had never seen Peluso get beaten down like that.
The best part and probably the reason I remember it is because I was watching the game w/ a blackhawks fan. :D

You mean you actually found one? I thought they had all entered the witness protection program.

I became a huge Barnaby fan when I got to know him in his Ranger years. The guy is I believe 6'1" and less than 200 pounds. But he will fight anybody... it's almost as if he goes out of his way to fight the biggest guy on the other team. He fought Zdeno Chara at least 4 times as a Ranger. Hal Gill, Jason Doig... the list goes on and on. You gotta love that guy... and yes I would love to see the Tucker / Barnaby fight. Was Barney a Ranger then? I must have missed that game.

Actually it was in his last year as a Penguin. Both him and Tucker really put on a show that night at the ACC. I will give Barnaby his due, he really backs down from no one and takes on guys any size, which people can at least respect. And Tucker is another who'll take on anyone, whether they are on the ice or the bench, it doesn't matter ;) .

Dave Schultz destroying Dale Ralph of the Rangers.
Dave Schultz tuning Pat Quinn in.
Harold Snepts going toe to toe with Stan Jonathon
Dave Brown pounding Jay miller to the ice.
Craig Cox and Bob Probert trading blows for at least a couple minutes a classic hockey fight.
And many more i could mention. 8) :thumb:

St. John's and Binghampton got into a huge fight at a game at the Air Canada Centre in December. It was great because there were 18,000 hockey starved fans sitting there screaming their heads off.
Anytime Mario Lemieux drops the gloves, you know it will be a funny fight to see; hair pulling, slapping, and eye gouging.

Actually Lemieux was a decent fighter... back in 84-85 :D
I once saw Gretzky get pissed and take a swing at somebody.
He missed and cork-screwed himself down to the ice.

I was at that game!It was amazing!
But my favorite fights are:
Darcy Tucker and the Ottawa Senators bench
When Clarke Wilm played a game for the leafs, he fought this guy from Buffalo I think, and destroyed him, that was pretty entertaining.
and the st.johns-binghamton brawl

Felix and Hextall was classic.
When Jason Smith was still a Leaf he had a fight right beside the net. I forget with who but they threw punches non-stop until their arm was tired then they both switched hands and kept throwing. They must have thrown 50 punches a piece.
Clark had a few good tilts, McSorley comes to mind. But I always liked when he K.O.'d the other guy with ONe shot.
Quebec and Montreal had some of the great brawls during the 80's when each team had a Hunter brother. Vive Les Nordiques!

There was the Senators-Leafs game in February 2004. The Leafs won 5-1 I think, but McCabe picked a fight with Chara and even though I'm a Leafs fan I must admit I chuckled a little watching Chara drag McCabe like a ragdoll.

Everyone watching the game was laughing. McCabe's face was hilarious. You could use the look on his face as a definition for "holy $#!T"

Here's a 100 x 75 pixel version of the big guy about to kill. Would make a nice little avatar for a Sens fan. Go right ahead ad take it. First come first served. :]

That was with Mark Tinordi of the Washington Capitals and ranks up there as one of the best ever and one of my faves!
Others are Craig Cox(Van) vs Bob Probert(Det) - this was a lengthy fight that lasted awhile with both guys being dead tired by the end of it.I've got this on my Don Cherry's Rock em Sockem em Vol 1
Wendel Clark(Tor) vs Bob Probert(Det) - they fought alot with Probert always getting the best of Clark but in Proberts 1st game back in Canada after his drug charge Clark beat Probert in what I call the "Welcome back to Canada Bob Probert" game,it was awesome.
Wendel Clark(Tor) vs Rick Tocchet(Phil) - 2 of my fav players duking it out non stop and connecting mercilessly. This occured after Clark laid out Mark Howe with a crushing bodycheck along the boards,a beauty of a hit and fight!

I'm a fan of the Mike Comrie and Ilya Kovalchuk tilt. Kovalchuk pulling hair, Comrie crying. Kovalchuk heading to the penatly box satisfied, Comrie hitting the showers for not wearing his fight strap. Kovalchuk scoring a goal later, while Comrie scores his fix.

Havlat's a turk, he's specialty is the knife.
Coxe/Probert is probably still the best fight I've ever seen.
Probert and Clarke both had a ton of doozies, several with each other.
Jay Miller/Willi Plett was another memorable one.
McCarty/C.Lemieux #2 was beautiful.
Jovanovski KOing Deadmarsh was maybe the cleanest decision I've seen, although unfortunate in retrospect.
I really liked the one from last season where Iginla pounded Guerin.
Brashear dominated more guys than I can remember, and again, can't remember specifics, but Clark Gillies absolutely took guys apart that were dumb enough not to listen to the advice of "don't wake up Jethro".
Didn't actually see it, but from several vivid accounts, I'd say the best fight ever might still be Gordie Howe making hamburger out of the then league heavyweight champ's face by the name of Lou Fontinato. Some guys had to learn the hard way never to mess with Gordie.

Hextall attacking Chelios was hilarious. I've been scouring for a clip of that actually. I think it's in Don Cherry R'em S'em 3 or 4. Anyone else remember that one?

Anytime Claude "the turtle" Lemieux gets pounded on is good.Even though I don't condone kneeing, this time when McCarty got Lemieux along the boards and kneed him in the head I felt it was justified and deserving after what Lemiuex did to Kris Draper!
The Deadmarsh KO was unfortunate but Deadmarsh was jawing with Dan Cloutier and Jovo was just doing his duty by stepping in and fighting Deadmarsh.2 stand up guys but a bad outcome for Deadmarsh!
Dan Goddard vs Donald Brashear the other night was a good fight with Goddard getting the best of Brashear and cutting him open really good! The best of the year so far!Lee Goren laying a beating on Phillipe Boucher was pretty good too!
Cheers
