Dairy Queen Miracle Treat Day

This Thursday August 11 is the annual Dairy Queen Miracle Treat day. Proceeds from all Blizzards sold go to support the Children's Miracle Network and Children's Hospitals throughout North America.

As some of you know I am the proud dad of a 3 and half-year-old son. Andrew was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect just after birth. He has been treated successfully with a series of Open Heart operations and Cardiac Catheterization procedures. The Children's Miracle Network helps to purchase specialized equipment for paediatric operations, as well as fund research and assist families with expenses that incur in looking after a sick child or travelling the 100's of kilometres to obtain the specialized care.

It is hot in most parts these days. Enjoy a Blizzard treat and help some special kids and their caregivers.

I have a strange feeling of Deja Vu.. wasn't there one just ~ 3 months ago?

Still a great cause though.

I was thinking the same thing, it seems like this happened only a couple months ago.

I guess if they're doing it again, I'll be buying a blizzard on thursday :thumb:

I think it was last summer guys. KB made a post similar to this one. Anyway, there are no DQ's here in my town, but if I'm in St. John's i'll be sure to grab one Mark.... maybe 3.

Yes I do remember being encouraged to buy Dairy Queen Blizzards last year from good, young KB. :) This year I once again will make a special trip to the local DQ to get a large Oreo Blizzard. I wish the company well on Thursday. It's a great cause.

I wish they made blizzards that didn't shoot my blood sugar level to a dangerous zone.

Mark,

I went last year, and there was a 30 minute wait for blizzards. So thats a good sign!

This Thursday, I shall do the same again

Why don't pubs do these kind of things? Not sure that I can eat more than one blizzard, but beer on the other hand...

That's a fantastic idea... A bar could be cleaned out of booze in a few hours for a good cause.

Some do but not on sales of booze.

I wish they made blizzards that didn't shoot my blood sugar level to a dangerous zone. :cry:Do what I do. As a diabetic, I can only look at the Blizzard longingly with drool comming out of my mouth. I take the family, buy blizzards for everyone and a diabetic ice cream bar for me. They sell them at the one near me, so I am assuming they do at all DQ's :)

To avoid the dreaded beer belly... I drink as much beer as I like. But I never touch dessert. Can diabetics drink beer?

Bluemeanie is a genious. You can have 40 dollars from me easily in a bar some nights, thats not including what I drink beforehand.

Can diabetics drink beer?I can have pretty much anything I want as long as I remove something else from the daily list. EG: Don't have too many carbs if I plan on having a few beers that day. Or if I do, ride a few extra times around the track. Give and take :)

But the money will not be donated to the cause. I have sent an email to DQ suggesting that' those of us who can't tolerate too much sugar. can donate in another way.

There are a lot of ways to support the cause. You can donate to the Children's Miracle Network or your local hospital foundation. Children's Hospitals are wonderful places doing tremendous work. It is my sincere wish you never have to see the inside of one.

Bump,

This year it is Thursday August 10 and is North America wide. All the money raised goes to support the Children's Hospital in your area. Indulge your sweet-tooth and help some special people help some special kids.

Hopefully they got a Dairy Queen in the mall next to work.

Reese's Pieces is the best. I don't really need an excuse to go get a Blizzard, so doing it for a good cause is even better.

If I ever become diabetic, I think I'll have to be admitted to a psychiatric ward (if they'll even take me).

Oreo's is awesome but the other day I had the Smarties one and it really hit the spot, just as good as the Oreo's.

Cheers

Once again this year, the kids can count on our familty to go to DQ and get some treats! What sacrifice won't we make for good causes... :D
