The Atlanta Thrashers are not only interested in Peter Bondra, but are persuing Teemu Selanne as well. They want one of the two.

Jocelyn Thibault is on the trade block and Phoenix in very interested.

Sean Burke is expected to make a decision next week. The Pittsburgh Penguins have him as the #1 on their list, but the Tampa Bay Lightning are also very interested.

Edmonton is interested in Anson Carter.

Phoenix also has interest in Mike Dunham.

As we reported on Friday, Lindros to T.O appears to be done.

So with Palffy in line in Pittsburgh there is some speculation that Stumpel may join his countryman with the Pens.

Thibault is rumored to be going to many teams of course. A good source said this to me just now, "The Penguins have had a deal on the table with Burke for the last two weeks. I was told they were waiting to see if Thibault would be available. Now that he is, I see the Pens making a strong run." Other teams looking at Thibault include, Tampa and Vancouver.

Selanne to St. Louis still looks to be more and more certain, but Atlanta is believed to be gearing up to make a push.

The steal of the free agent world. The word is a Lindros deal with Toronto may have been done yesterday...1.5M for one year, with a team option for a second year. I think this is a great signing. Yes, Lindros is a risk...But at 1.5 this is a no-brainer. Face it, when 88 is playing even at 75% he is capable of doing more than a majority of NHL players. And a year off does great things for concussions. If he comes back at 90% he is an elite player, and of course should he be close to 100% he is a dominant force. Not bad for 1.5 at all. I am hearing that Eric probably could have gotten more elsewhere in fact. A good source said this, "The Rangers made a big push to sign both Eric and LeClair. They thought they had it done, but in the end Eris looks like he just wants to play in Toronto." The source went on to say that should the leaf talks fall apart, the NY deal will happen instantly...I feel that we will have resolution on this come Monday.

Curtis Joseph is in discussions with St Louis and Pitt..

Concerning the sanity situation of our leader and administrater (hail leader) it would probably be in Toronto's best interest to sign Lindros.

Eh Matty??

Wouldn't be funny if the Leafs sign Lindros and at some point he collides head first with Allison and not only do both careers end, but so does the Leafs season?

Why waste money on 2 mush heads?

Lindros to Toronto makes a lot of sense. He is worth the risk IMO. Paul Kariya recently signed for 4.5 million(iirc). A lot of people thought signing Kariya for 3 million would make sense, let alone 4.5. If Lindros signs for 1.5 mil its an absolute steal. Lets compare Kariya's and Lindros' stats.

Last 3 seasons:
Kariya 215GP, 68G, 174Pts, -23
Lindros 191GP, 66G, 158Pts, +31

Lindros played in 24 less games over the last 3 years, and he only scored 2 less goals. He completely obliterates Kariya in +/- .

Lindros at 1.5 mil is without doubt an absolute steal, when compared to Kariya's contract.

Klee, McCabe and Kaberle are all being shopping. Leafs have held serious discussions with both Washington and Buffalo about their defensemen, but both teams are waiting as they would prefer to sign Roman Hamrlik. Chris Drury is a name the leafs have mentioned, as is Biron. A few Washington prospects are targets as well.

Atlanta is trying to get one of Selanne and Bondra. Bondra may go back to Washington, while Selanne is very interested in St.Louis. Anson Carter is another name mentioned by Atlanta, though he apparently is holding out, hoping to recieve interest from the Leafs

The newest trade I'm hearing this morning could be Anahiem trading J.S Giguere to Detroit for Zetterberg. That could get interesting. Anahiem could replace him with Cloutier, as Burke is very fond of Cloutier and feels he's about to mature into an elite goalie, especially with new rules

I think Klee is the only defenseman that Toronto could get some real positive value back for. Kaberle is soft and refuses to shoot the puck, along with a pretty big contract (over 2 million, is it not?) and McCabe's contract is outright ridiculous.

What does Burke trade to Vancouver to get Cloutier, and more importantly, what does Vancouver replace Cloutier with?

Cloutier maturing into an elite goalie in an even more open game? I wonder if he has some dirty pictures of Burke, to keep getting his praise? Seriously though, dealing Giguere for Zetterberg would be a solid move by the Ducks. Giguere IMO is a one-hit wonder who got hot at the right time. Zetterberg on the other hand is going to be a solid all-around player one day, and would fit in well with the likes of Fedorov, Sykora, Lupul, Rucchin, Getzlaf, Leclerc, and Niedermayer up front.

What does Burke trade to Vancouver to get Cloutier, and more importantly, what does Vancouver replace Cloutier with?

Maybe a three team deal with Giguere ending up in Detroit, Zetterberg in Anaheim, and Legace in Vancouver?

Since the thread was getting way too off topic, I split the thread over to here: Link (http://www.hockeystation.com/showthread.php?t=1171)

There was a rumour, the day Sopel was traded, that the Canucks were to trade for Poti

Now again today, the same rumour shows up
