With the addition to free-agent goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, the Blackhawks are now looking to trade Jocelyn Thibault, and he's welcoming the change, reports the Chicago Daily Herald.
"I would have liked to stay with the Hawks, but I don't think I would have been happy knowing they tried to get another goalie," Thibault told the newspaper
"I knew they were trying to sign Khabibulin, so it's no surprise. I'm just looking forward to going to another team and doing the best I can there."
Hawks GM Dale Tallon has now turned his attention to trading Thibault, and there figures to be no shortage of interested clubs.
"Jocelyn is a class act and a good goaltender," Tallon told the paper. "We're going to do whatever we can to make things right for him."
According to the Daily Herald, the Phoenix Coyotes are definitely interested in Thibault, while the Tampa Bay Lightning might also have interest after losing Khabibulin.
The Los Angeles Kings, Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks might also show interest. Several other clubs with goalie issues that might be interested in Thibault are the Los Angeles Kings, Carolina Hurricanes and perhaps even the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks.

No surprise obviously with the Bulin signing.
Thibault should definitely gain some heavy interest throughout the league. Wouldn't mind seeing him on the Rangers, except that would push back the debuts of either Montoya or Lunqvist or both.

Not to mention the debut of all star Weekes :coffee:

Thibault in Ottawa or Vancouver would be scary. Because he could relaly make them stanley cup contenders, esepacilly if the Sedins ekeep imprioving.

I see Tampa Bay perhaps going after him because of losing Khabibulin. I don't see Ottawa going after him with Hasek, but Vancouver is a definite possibility.

Go take a peek at Weekes's numbers from last year.
He played 66 games for a dismal Carolina team, so he couldn't manage a winning record... but he tallied
a career high in wins (23)
a career high in shutouts (6)
a career high GAA (2.33)
That's with no offensive support. The guy can play.
I would also like to point out that Weekes is only the 2nd player in NHL history to improve his GAA over 6 consecutive seasons. (CUJO was the other)
Cloutier may rack a lot of wins.... but that's becuase he has some talent in front of him. Weekes is a #1 in this league.
He stayed at the Inn I work at in Niagara Falls, back in June for 6 days. He is a very nice guy.

Good point with Cloutier, its true..and I won't deny it.
BUT, I don't believe Weekes is a true No.1 He is too alike Cloutier, IMO. Has some great games, wow you think..and then has some horrid games.
I'd say he is a good No.1 A goalie

Agreed. But not many others do agree about Thibault. They say he sucks.
I say he played on a terrible team, and has yet to show his true colours

He had the duty of replacing Patrick Roy in Montreal and did it pretty good. He's definitely not an elite goaltender, but a very solid one who hasn't had the benefit of playing on a strong team in a long time.

I disagree Tabasky Sauce.
I think both Cloutier and Weekes are NHL #1's. The only way you could convince me otherwise is to name 30 goal tenders (1 per team) that are better than Weekes and/or Cloutier. I mean active goalies with a proven NHL track record. Not prospects. No goalies who had a fluke season or tournament.
Weekes' numbers and yearly improvement speaks for itself. Cloutier's win totals (correct me if I'm wrong) have been pretty solid in recent years.
Don't get me wrong. I don't think either are elite, top echelon goalies. But I think they are both worthy of starting jobs in the NHL.

He's from Toronto.
Born in Toronto, raised and grew up in Nepean.
Ferret Knows.
He played for the 67's a while back too. I was never overly impressed by his play for the barber-poles.... but we were pretty bad that year finishing last in our division. Alyn McCauley was also on the roster that year IIRC.

He did the Steve Yzerman thing. Only difference is that Stevie Y now has an arena named after him.
