BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - It appears Domanick Davis has been rewarded for his production.

ESPN is reporting that the Houston Texans have signed Davis, who has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons, to a four-year contract extension.

Davis, 24 was to make $380,000 in 2005 - the final year of his original three-year contract. The new deal is reportedly worth $22 million with $8 million in guaranteed money.

A fourth-round pick in 2003 out of Louisiana State, Davis rushed for 1,031 yards and eight touchdowns despite starting just 10 games as a rookie. Last season, he rushed for 1,188 yards and 13 scores.

Davis has also been effective catching passes out of the backfield with 115 receptions in two seasons.

Smart move by the Texas.

I believe that this is the year that they take the next step. They have an ever improving David Carr, Dominick Davis is a great RB and Andre Johnson and Jabar Gaffney are great WR.

I believe that this is the year that they take the next step. They have an ever improving David Carr, Dominick Davis is a great RB and Andre Johnson and Jabar Gaffney are great WR.

O yes Gaffney; my most memorable moment of Jabar was last season in a game against the Jags where it appeared as though he was about to put the team up by 14 but:

Houston wide receiver Jabar Gaffney for having the courage to leap into the stands after scoring a touchdown he must have known would not stand up to replays. Taking the ball on an end-around at the 6, Gaffney could've walked in for a touchdown but fumbled at the 1, with the ball rolling into and out of the end zone for a touchback. "I was going in, and I was about to celebrate, and the ball came out," Gaffney said. "I thought I had crossed (the goal line) before it actually came out." Remember, Jabar, if it looks like a rat ...

Lucky for him the Texans bent the Jags over 20 - 6.
