Brand new version of my favorite game is out. Can't wait to buy it!
Review (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/639/639607p1.html)
They complain about the new "Vision and Percision Passing" but I think it looks great. The more complex and realistic sports games are, the more I like them.
The last Madden game I bought was the first for Playstation 2 - Madden NFL 2001.
I think it's time for an update. Best Buy has it on for $49.99 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week. For the best sports game on the market, that sounds like a good deal. I think I will be buying it there, because it comes will a Madden beer stein too.
From what I've seen, it looks like a winner. :thumb:
Looks like a pretty cool cover they're using this season.

Mr. Over-rated himself.
And he's cursed now as well, if possible he may throw even more picks. Espeacilly when he's starting the season against that amazing Baltimore "D"

One thing I hope they do on this year's Madden is make it easier to fill out the historical rosters. They can't use the names obviously, but what they do is they set the age, height, weight and attributes correctly. Unfortunately, they no longer put the correct # in thus making it harder to figure out who each player is.

If any of you have the game you may have noticed that Ricky Ray is it. And rated at a very reasonable 69 overall. I'm not a big fan but it's nice to see the CFL'er getting some credit.

Well, if you also look, Brock Lesnar is a free agent in the game. He isn't that good because of his awareness but he has awesome strength and pretty good speed for a D-linemen.
I love the game. The passing thing is great. And the truck stick is pretty good. It actually gives you a reason to pick one of the pounding backs like Jamal Lewis or Rudi Johnson. It used to be just get the fastest guy possible. But now you can plow through someone for an extra 10-20 yards instead of running around 'em.
The only thing I don't like about the game, but I haven't liked this for years, is the sideline catching. The WRs do absolutely nothing different to catch the ball on the sideline rather than the middle of the field. That is one thing ESPN had down. If your player was near the sideline he would keep his feet inbounds to catch the ball instead of completely running out to catch the ball.

I checked it out, but couldn't find him on the Jets' roster. He must be a free agent, like LiAm mentioned that Brock Lesnar is. I'll check again. :)

Why can't they use the names?
That's always bugged me..
Why can't they use the names?
That's always bugged me.. They would have to receive permission from each and every player. If they were deceased, then their estates would have to agree to it. I figure it's too much hassle for EA Sports to have to get the NFL's Players' Inc. permission to use the current players' names and numbers already.
On the same note, I was the 1998 Broncos, playing the 1997 Packers and it was no fun that my quarterback was #3 and Green Bay's wore #5. :curse: It really takes the lustre out of a Elway/Favre rematch.

Like JR said they would need their permission, but I remember in Madden 2003 when they had the Madden cards that would unlock all the classic players. Steve Young, Jim Brown, Mike Singletary, Barry Sanders, etc. What's funny is my friend used Steve Young and I played against him in a season and broke his jaw. Out for the rest of the season.
If you ever play the MLB games, you would notice that Barry Bonds isn't on there. He is replaced by someone with stats that should be his. Bonds isn't in the game because he isn't a part of the MLBPA and won't give EA permission.

I discovered from the main screen, go to FEATURES, select HISTORIC TEAMS and pick the team you want to make changes to. Then click on each player and you can edit everything about them - the name, numbers, appearance, attibutes, etc.
I've already added #7 and John Elway to the quarterback from that Broncos' roster. When I have time, I am going to go through and change all the players' numbers and names.

Yeah, I knew you could edit stats and other things to people but I never bothered because I knew if I had changed one guy I would be trying to figure out who the other 45 guys on the team were to change them too. You can also edit the stats of regular players. So if you disagreed with anything Madden did, you could just go in and change it all up.

I've gotten Madden 06 and I've enjoyed it so far. Superstar mode is alright, and as somebody who runs the ball 90% of the time you better believe I'm loving the truck stick :D

Yeah, the problem is I can't find a site that will give me the info that I'd need to fill out the rosters. I found websites for the Redskins and Steelers I think, but no success with other teams.
I like the QB vision feature that Madden 06 has. It adds a new sort of dimension to the game. However, Michael Vick is still unstoppable in this game.

Vick is not unstoppable if you use the right defense. Actually with scrambling QBs, I have always piled up a huge amount of sacks against them, cause they try to tuck the ball and run but I still get to 'em. Sure they gain the occasional 10 yard run, but they get sacked at least 3 times for every one of those runs.

True.
Also, if you like to control the defensive players by youself, a guy like Liam's boy, Brian Dawkins, has enough speed to catch Vick and destroy him with a 'hit stick' anyways.

Yep, guys like Dawkins and Michela Lewis are very dangerous on the safety blitzes. But if you have a speedy OLB, like Dhani Jones, then you could also pile up lots of sacks with the right plays.
