By far the funniest thing I ever saw in a hockey game was Stan Makita standing on the bench in the penalty box, directing the boos of the crowd. I forget why he got the penalty but he looked as if he were conducting an orchestra.I think I was 10 or 11 at the time but it made the whole family laugh.

The second funniest, even though it meant I lost one of my picks in the hockey pool was when Scott Stevens hit Lindros (just back from a concussion) and lindros fell flat on his back and was out with yet ANOTHER concussion that season. (You think he'd learn to get a better helmet!).

Tie Domi as a rookie on the New York Rangers. :clown:

He was an instant fan favorite at Madison Square Garden.

After his first NHL goal he rode his stick like a witch's broom ala Tiger Williams.

After a fight w/ Chris "Knuckles" Nilan, they were yapping back and forth from the penalty boxes and Domi grabs his stick and starts using it like an old man's cane yelling to Nilan that he was old! (which he was, compared to Tie - I believe that was his final year).

John Davidson and Sam Rosen were cracking up until JD gained his composure and said something to the effect of "Tie will realize someday that we all get older". How true.

For Tie I think the old adage that we are only young once but we can be immature forever is apt

I wish more hockey players did stuff like that nowadays where they got involved with their home crowds. The game needs more original players like Jeremy Roenick who speaks their mind all the time and don't say the polite rehashed crap that we hear every other player say (it's like they're reading from a cue card). There is way too much conformity in the game imo. Where did the originality go?

As for funniest things, I loved Roenick's tossing of the water bottle last year at the ref when he was gushing blood. Alfredsson's fake throwing the stick into the crowd landed me on my ass laughing. Ruttu's constant antics where he agitates the opposition cracks me up, especially when he's smiling like he's up to something so rotten.

Now let's get real here. He just came back from a concussion and he still insisted on wearing his helmet so loose that it offered no protection when he fell. I laughed at his sheer stupidity. Lindros of all people should know better.

Speaking of Funny. I once saw Leaf Ian Turnball get a shot off the cup. The look on his face was priceless!! He went down butterfly style to block a shot. I read the look, to me is said "Its gonna hit me, but please, not in the nuts!!" Luckily he was back on the ice a few shifts later. He once score 5 goals on 5 shots in one game VS Detroit on Feb. 2, 1977

A Five on Five Brawl between Toronto and Chicago. The Main attraction was a fight between Gary Leeman and Denis Savard. They threw punches for about five minutes .... while they circled about 15 feet apart up and down the ice. I don't believe a punch was landed, or came within ten feet.

I remember a game not to long ago where Steve Sullivan was hit in the face by an errant puck. I think he was playing for Chicago already, but I can't recall who they were playing - but it was a road game needless to say. There was a fan in the front row, right by the glass where Sully was hit that was slapping the glass, laughing at Sullivan as he bled all over the place. Sully just grined and skated off the ice to get stitches. As only irony will have it, later that game a cleared puck went over the glass and hit - you guessed it - the same fan right in the face. Sully later skated by the guy smiling and pointing at him. It was pure classic.

Zigmund Palffy kisses Travis Green on mouth during game?

Puck-er Up For Palffy and Green

Puck-er up for Palffy and Green
'Ziggy kind of surprised me with a big kiss on the lips'
By CHRIS STEVENSON -- Ottawa Sun

Gable and Lombard.
Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster frolicking in the surf in From Here to
Eternity.
Palffy and Green.
Palffy and Green.
The New York Islanders' kissing bandits, who bring their act to the Corel
Centre tonight, raised
some eyebrows and pursed some lips with their post-goal smoochfest after
Ziggy Palffy scored a
goal against the New Jersey Devils Wednesday night.
In case you missed it, Palffy swatted home a rebound behind Devils
goaltender Martin Brodeur
for his 33rd goal of the season. He passed behind the Devils net and hooked
up with Travis
Green in the corner where the two embraced.
The next thing you knew, bam, lip lock.
"Ziggy kind of surprised me with a big kiss on the lips," said Green. You
and about 30 million
hockey fans, Travis.
Goals are happy occasions. They inspire a group hug, a pat on the head or
maybe a tap on the
butt.
Palffy was clearly overcome by the emotion of the moment and it didn't look
like he was doing
it tongue in cheek.
"I guess he was just pretty happy to get a goal. I guess that's what
Europeans do," said Green,
who had to endure the expected derision from his teammates yesterday.
"The thing is, he's done it before. He gave somebody a peck on the cheek
last year."
"We believe in camaraderie," said Isles coach Rick Bowness, "but that's
taking it a little too far."
Don Cherry, who landed a smooch on Doug Gilmour during an episode of
Coach's Corner --
but, hey, only on the cheek, I'm tellin' ya -- had a laugh about it last
night. He plans to do
something on Ziggy's pucker power tomorrow night.
"I know those guys who wear visors are sweeties," said Cherry last night,
"but that's a little too
much."
What is proper post-goal kissing etiquette? Does the guy with the visor
tilt his head to the left or
right?
Ziggy was keeping his lips sealed yesterday. Guess he doesn't like to kiss
and tell.
What's next?
Will Islanders fans start celebrating Ziggy's goals by throwing Hershey
Kisses on the ice?
The pair obviously has a huge endorsement deal coming its way.
Imagine the commercial:
Announcer, over the pictures of Zigmund Palffy racing in and beating a
goaltender: "Palffy
shoots. He scores!"
Cut to Palffy: "Before I pucker up, I make sure to use T and Z's lip balm.
Helps eliminate those
annoying injuries that can put a crimp in a goal scorer's game. No, not knee,
groin or shoulder
injuries -- chapped lips! Nothing worse than having lips rougher than the ice
at the CoreStates
Center. Right, Travis?"
Green: "Right, Ziggy. Make mine strawberry."
You can bet that any Islanders player on the ice when Palffy scores in his
next game will be
giving him a wide berth. They'll avoid him like a retail price.
Green said there probably won't be a repeat tonight at the Corel Centre.
He's not ready to just
turn the other cheek.
"I wouldn't count on it," he said. "But then again, it depends on how big a
goal it is."
Green figures he's got the problem licked.
"All I know is I'll run to the bench."

Few memories, and all from the last game I was at too.

Edmonton vs. Atlanta.

Game shouldn't of had much emotion.. but it did. About halfway through the third there was a brawl, and Passi Nurminem and Ty Conklin were included. The fights ended.. but the game didnt' start. After about 10 minutes, we realized that Atlanta didn't have a goalie because their starter (who's name will not come to me right now..) was injured. The played the last few minutes 6 on 5

After the game Pasi said, "Give some punches, take some punches, feel alive."

Not sure if Ian Turnbull would find this a funny moment, but I remember watching a game at a moment when the camera was right on him. Can't remember who took the shot from the point but Ian did the butterfly in an effort to block the shot. The puck had eyes because it struck poor Ian in the you know whats and even though the play was over in an instant, every man watching at that moment pretty much said aloud what Ian said. You could clearly read what he said off his lips, even on an old 12 black and white. OH BLEEP! as he was grabbing at his crotch with both hands. I swear he was cryingn like a little baby(I was too)

They replayed it over and just as he was getting in position to make the block you could see a look of what the hell am I doing, this is Palmateers job on his face!!

Wish I could recall the year, the Rangers were playing a horrible game one night and the coach out of disgust put the defense on the offensive line and the offense on the defensive line and made them play like that for a good 15 minutes. How about Patrick Roy, I think it was against Det. with the hotdog save where he proudly shows of the Glove he made the save with, as the puck slides between his legs and goes in.

There was a game in the 70's that featured streakers running on to the ice during a stopage in play.

I remember Dave "The Hammer" Schultz pulling the hair of one of his opponents and you coud actually see clumps of hair in his hands.

The incident where the Boston player (either Milbury or McNab) beats a fan with his own shoe.

The night Stu Grimson went nuts. Coach Keenan had a hold of Stu but he broke free and tried to chase down Bob Halkidis. He was tackled by Gilmour.

It was definately Keenan. I think it was the year after they won the cup, or the year after that, somewhere in that time frame. I clearly remember Sam and JD laughing like crazy over it, but whatever Keenan was hoping to do, it didn't help, they continued to play badly that whole week. Nothing like seeing a bunch of big defensive guys taking a face off though.

You guys should go to a Senior Hockey game here in NL. It's as good as a concert. The hockey is very entertaining but the passionate fans are even more entertaining. In our stadium, the benches are across from eachother and the penalty box is on the home side of the arena. Whenever the opposing team gets a penalty there are a few death threats exchanged and the occasional spitting incident. It really is hilarious to watch grown men act so juvenile.
