Isn't Sullivan still there? Good signing for the Preds.

I guess somebody had to rain on PDO's parade eventually.:D

Good signing by Nashville, they're going to be another team to make some noise in the West this year.

David Poile and Barry Trotz like thier team, a solid dependable bunch. Kariya gives them a scoring source. What is really impressive about the Preds is the young defence they are developing.

Kariya signs two-year deal with Predators

Unrestricted free agent forward Paul Kariya has signed on with the Nashville Predators, TSN has learned.

The deal is worth $4.5 million US a season over two years.

Kariya played nine seasons with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and last season with the Colorado Avalanche. He was taken by Anaheim with the fourth pick of the NHL entry draft in 1993 - the year the expansion Ducks came into the league.

Kariya, with Teemu Selanne at his side, was among the most productive offensive players in the NHL, totalling 669 points in 606 games with the Ducks.

Both players also made a huge splash in the free agent market in 2003, signing one-year contracts with the Avalanche. He was limited to 36 points in 51 games with Colorado, missing 21 games with wrist and ankle injuries.

Kariya, who made $10 million US in 2002-2003 with the Mighty Ducks, became an unrestricted free agent when Anaheim declined to make him a qualifying offer. He agreed to a $1.2 million contract with the Avalanche.Via: TSN.ca (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=132540).

Rumor has it that Eklund is going to start another rumor.

It's not official yet, but it should be announced within the hour.

If you start enough rumours you're bound to hit some of them...

Good pickup for the Predators. With Walker, Sullivan and now Kariya the Predators can build from their playoff appearance from last year.

True, but those are some small players they have. It will be fun to watch them try and get by the Oil defense when the two teams play.

I can't wait to boo him :curse:

edit: He wasn't worth 4.5 / year anyway. I would've been furious if Lowe signed him for more than 3, so he was wise to drop out. Nashville on the other hand..

Ease P-Dogg to the O, he probably chose Nashville because it is more of a hockey market than Edmonton. It clearly had nothing to do with the $$.
