Perhaps the Canucks fans here will appreciate this idea!
Alright, I know I've mentioned him in the past..but what about Aleksey Morozov for the 2nd line?
I have done my research..and he is a RFA. He hasn't signed a new deal in russia, so still can play in the NHL next season.
Here is a guy the Canucks had much interest in, before they had to settle for Rucinsky.
He is a RW(can also play LW), great on the PP, is a goal scorer.
Pens fans on other boards, seem to think he is due for a breakout year.
In russia this past season, these were his totals
20 Goals 27 Assists 47 Points in 58 games
Plus 19 rating, with 30 PIM
In the last NHL season, these were his totals
16 goals 34 assists 50 points in 75 games
(8 PP goals, and 17 PP assists)
Minus 24 rating with 24 PIM
You must remember he has been playing on a terrible team, and last season was one of the only stars on his team..but still produced alright stats
I think he would thrive in the new NHL, and would compliment the sedins. Plus, he would be inexpensive, and has potential to be a very solid 2nd liner.
Thoughts?

it might work, if he could be lured over. He amy elect to stay in Russia, or another team may be thinking what you are thinking. He probably wouldn't tkae up much cap room and his versatilty would help.

I think by the time the season starts TT and I will have mentioned how every player in the league could somehow fit into the Canuck's gameplan.
Did you hear Roman Oksuita is thinking of coming back to the NHL to give the Canucks one more try?

Yeah, I think the Canucks could for sure lure him back to the NHL. BUT, thats if the Pens didn't want to keep him. With the team they have now, he may want to play for them.
Its obvious the Canucks can't afford to land a high profile player for the 2nd line.
So, why not Morozov? He would come cheap, thats for sure. Also, this isn't just me rambling on about trade ideas  The Canucks did for sure have interest in him at the last deadline. So, hey, lets hope they are atleast looking into him..
BTW, for the defensive hole..how about asking Obsut to give North america one more try? Remember the Canucks had faith in him, before his injury(leg infection). This past season in europe he played with Ohlund, and had a very good year.

I was thinking Koltsov on defense? Sounds like he's good but has an attitude, which could work to the Canucks' advantage. If the Canucks get one more dman, and possibly bring up Koltsov, and have Baumer as the 7th, it doesn't look that bad (unless Koltsov turns out to be a dud).
Ohlund Hamrlik?
Jovo Koltsov
Allen Salo

True on Koltsov..he has potential. But not sure what the Canucks think of him, since his russian episode. He is a wee bit small, and paired with Jovo..two offensive minded dudes..
How about a trade for Boucher from Dallas? He is decent, big, can play either defensive, or offensive. Dallas will most likely be cutting some salary
Ah, forget it..I'm dreaming again..Koltsov and Baumer it is :(

I'm not crazy about Boucher. I've always seen him to be overrated and a poor defensemen. I think Nonis has to sign at least one more dman. Sure hope it is Hamrlik to be paired with Ohlund, that would be tight. Since Koltsov is so offensive how about stick Allen with Jovo... nevermind... We may need two dmen... ;)
As for upfront we need at least one second line player as has been stated before. What about Leclair for around the $2 million mark? He has had some less than great seasons lately, but he could be had for cheap and if played right could put up 60-70 points again. And Morozov would be good, where is Pittsburgh's cap at right now?

You may be right about Boucher, but have you seen his latest numbers?
For sure Nonis needs to sign another dman, and I totally agree..Hammer/Ohlund would be a solid pair. Hammer is underrated these days, could easily have 40 points with the canucks. Plus he plays with an edge.
Don't forget about Simpson. Tough as nails UFA. But, he is depth..and thats all. So yeah, would rather give Baumer a shot over him actually.
LeClair with the twins? Could work..especially at a low price. Also don't forget about Bondra. He may be aging faster than a fine cheese, but he is alright..a shooter..and again..thats what the twins need.
Not sure about P'Burgs cap. It has to be somewhere up there, especially with a few signings they have done. As I said, I think Morozov would be the perfect fit..for the fact he isn't an elite scorer..yet..he would come cheaper. Could expect atleast 25 goals from him, perhaps more.

I heard Boucher notched zero points with the Stars last season. Weak....
Bondra was really unimpressive with the Sens last season. But at this point I think just about any UFA would look good beside the twins. I really hope we get at least one new major face on the team. You know, not someone like Andrei Nazarov to help fill in for May's departure.

Yeah, the team does need a new face..or two.
We have talked about Salei alot, and I do think the ducks will have to move somebody. Checked out the ducks forums, and they seem to agree that Salei would be the candidate to go. He is a RFA, and has been rumoured in the past to be out of ducktown.
Trade for Salei, and sign Slegr..not bad if you ask me.
Another name I liked was Colin White from NJ. He is perfect to clear the front of the net. They are another team that has to trade a defenseman, since they are knee deep in defenders..
TSN bio White (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl_network/teams/player_bio.asp?player_id=1542&hubName=NJ)
For forwards, Vladimir Orszagh would be a really nice fit, and come cheap. He sounds similar to Cooke..Could play on the 2nd/3rd line
TSN bio (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl_network/teams/player_bio.asp?player_id=190&hubName=NAS)
But, the only reason Nashville didn't qualify him..was because he suffered a knee injury at the WC. They thought he wouldn't be ready for camp, but he said he would. However, I haven't seen one bad thing said about this guy. Would be decent if healthy.
Bert-Mo-Nas
Morozov-Sedin-Sedin
Cooke-Chub-Orszagh(cooke and orszagh could also play on the 2nd line)
Linden-Kesler-Ruttu/Brookbank
Jovo-Salei
Ohlund-Salo
Allen-Slegr
Baumer
Not bad lineup if you ask me

Shhhhhhhhhh, we're trying to keep that on the D-L.

Another name being thrown around, is Mark Parrish
The Isles may have to cut him loose, since he is a RFA, and they have depth.
But again, now that they canucks don't have sopel kicking around..it limits the possibilities
I'd much prefer Morozov..but Nonis wont return my calls :curse:

Well, I was checking over stats..and found something interesting
7g 10a for 17 points thru 17 games
Those are Morozov's numbers with Kazan Ak-Bars. Not bad
He is still a RFA, and Pittsburgh doesn't look to want to resign him. Perhaps next season..the Canucks should take a look?
I really like Carter with the twins, but if it doesn't work out(for some odd reason)..then this guy would be alright.
If not the Canucks, some team should try and land this guy. IMO he is due to breakout

Morozov is like a Czerkawski clone. Kind of like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're going to get
Someone played a nasty trick on Toronto, what we thought was chocolate turned out to be sh!t. Hopefully Vancouver has better luck if they can lure in Morozov.

I warned you about Czerkawski ;)
Morozov's point totals were pretty stable the last three seasons he has played. Remember he was injured during one of them. For him, I think its just a matter of playing for a good team.
But, I don't think he will come here..since Carter is playing well with the twins

as I am sure PDo will remind us about Cater, it is still early in the season!;)
