Tverdovsky returns to NHL with Carolina

The Carolina Hurricanes have a new point man, signing Oleg Tverdovsky to a three-year deal worth $7.5 million US, TSN has learned.
Tverdovsky, 29, spent the last two seasons playing with Avangard Omsk of the Russian Elite League.
The veteran blueliner has played 615 NHL games, scoring 74 goals, 216 assists for 290 points. His last NHL season was in 2002-2003 when he scored five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 50 games with New Jersey.
He was selected second overall by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim at the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and also played with the Phoenix Coyotes.
