Eklund is now saying these two might be signing with the Rangers. :conspire:
If this happens, I will officially denounce my fan allegiance to the New York Rangers organization. Enough is enough. I'm hanging by a thread as it is.
Thank god for NHL center ice... so I can watch my new favorite team, The Altlanta Thrashers every night, instead of Egg-shell-head Lindros.
This would actually be quite surprising, because the Rangers declined to exercise the option year on Lindros in Summer of 2004, making him a UFA.
That was pre-lockout and caused some bad public feelings beween Glen Sather and Eric's Dad.
If this did by some chance happen... I promise you that Sam Rosen and John Davidson will have to scream above the chants of "Fire Sather" at Madison Square Garden.

Well hopefully for the Rangers and their fans, this is just what it is: a rumour. You wouldn't think Sather would do this but stranger things have happened in NY NY.
Personally I don't think Sather's going to see the Rangers rebuilding through to fruition. Whether he completely screws up or makes all the right moves. He's going to be feeling the heat either way.
He is pretty much despised in NY - not only for general managing the team into an astoundingly embarassing phase in their history, but to then decide the first guy who had to go was Brian Leetch... perhaps the most popular Ranger ever, at least in the modern era.
Re-building or not... good moves or bad... barring the extremely unlikely scenario that the Rangers have immediate success this season or even next... Sather is likely to get thrown to the wolves at some point. And there's a lot of hungry wolves calling for him.
He might find himself wishing for the good old lockout days when this season gets rollng.

Rangers eyeing LeClair
TheFourthPeriod.com
According to the New York Post, the Rangers may be trying to bring veteran winger John LeClair to Broadway. LeClair, 36, scored 50 goals in three straight seasons for the Flyers from 1995-96 through 1997-98.
In 873 career NHL games with Philadelphia and Montreal, LeClair has accumulated 382 goals and 379 assists for 761 points.
The Rangers, meanwhile, are reportedly shopping young forward Jamie Lundmark.
I like your new Thrashers sig Mel...
More filler.
If they sign him to anything beyond 2 years for any kind of serious money, it will just be another display of Sather's ineptitude.

According to Eklund it's just Leclair they're looking at now
It's in here if you're intrested

I don't mind them signing Leclaire as long as it's, as I say "filller", 2 years max. I mean let's face reality they do need some vets to fill out the lineup, it can't hurt to land a few recognizable names.
If they were to sign Leclaire to say a 5 year $30 million offer, that's a different story. I honestly don't put it past Sather.
As for Lindros, if he ever makes a return to the Rangers they have lost this fan for good.
I seriously can't stomach this team any more. I'm going to be watching a lot of Thrashers this season. Watching Holik lead on a team with some young talent. (kind of what I was hoping to develop on Broadway).
I think now in retrospect that they should have bought out Jagr and kept Holik... he only had 2 years left... roll that back by 24% and it's manageable. They could have bought out Kasparitis to make room if necessary. I think this organization needs to unload Sather.
I'm thinking about this coming season and I just can't get syched. Not one single player I care about or have any attachment to, a GM I can't stand, and Jagr. Jagr has turned out to completely rub me the wrong way, with his talk of playing in Russia and leaving the NHL. I wish he would, If he doesn't want to be here... I'd rather watch some prospect develop by getting regular NHL ice time.

Leclair would be a typical NY signing.
That's why I have both a Thrashers sig and a never ending loathing for Glen Sather.

The first time he was picked up by the rangers was the last time I cheered for them.
