If that's the case, it's looking even more likely he'll stay in New Jersey.

Hopefully...

I'm not sure who to believe anymore

GM's say they are done, and still make deals. Sources say teams aren't in the running, but then they are

Its all so confusing :thumb:

But, I think he will end up in Anaheim. I hope the Canucks sign someone like Hamrlik

Report: Niedermayer decision coming
TheFourthPeriod.com

Scott Niedermayer will make a decision as early as tonight as to where he plans on playing next season, TFP has learned.
Niedermayer has a list four teams he is debating between, and is expected to made his decision public tomorrow.

Niedermayer's agent, Kevin Epp, has confirmed a report that Anaheim, San Jose & New Jersey are on the list, but told MOJO Sports Radio 730 in Vancouver that a fourth team has just recently entered the mix.

While a decision could come tonight, an official announcement is not expected until tomorrow, Epp said.

Epp also told MOJO 730 that his client will not be signing with the Vancouver Canucks.

The most coveted defenceman in the free agent market finally found a home on Thursday, as veteran blueliner and 2004 Norris Trophy winner Scott Niedermayer has signed with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

The deal for four years at $6.725 million per season, while brother and new teammate Rob signed a four year contract at $2 million per season. New Jersey was Niedermayer's NHL home since 1992, after the Devils took him with the third overall pick in the 1991 draft.

Niedermayer has spent 12 full seasons with the Devils, winning three Stanley Cups and the 2004 Norris trophy as the NHL's top defenceman. In addition to his Stanley Cup titles, Niedermayer has won an Olympic Gold medal, a World Championship, the World Cup, the Memorial Cup and a World Junior title. He is the only player in hockey history to have won all six titles.

The Devils and San Jose Sharks were also believed to be offering long term contracts to Niedermayer.

With Rob N signing with the Ducks I expect a few big signings from the Devil. At the least Rafalski will be back in NJ

Not surprised that he signed with the ducks

This makes the ducks a better team, especially if Jiggy can return to form ;)

$2 million for brother Rob? Ouch..Burke has finally overpaid someone

Damn, Nieds will be missed with the Devils. Considering what he's accomplished in his career, the only thing he hasn't done yet is play with his brother. Not to mention Anaheim is closer to home than New Jersey is. Thanks for the years you've given the Devils Scotty, I wish you the best in Anaheim.:)

Someone? He overpaid both of them... Pronger is a better all around defenseman (Niedermayer has a skating advantage, obviously.. but he doesn't scare the bejesus out of anyone, and his shot isnt' as heavy either).

Pronger - 5 years @ 6.25
Niedermayer - 4 years @ 6.75

Not a huge overpay, but still an overpay!

Just to add a little to this, it's rumored the Devils were offering the maximum of $7.8 million to Niedermayer, so I'm glad he turned it down. That's too much money to waste on one player, especially in the salary cap era.

I could've seen that before the Pronger signing, but to me that set his market much lower (and probally really ticked him off too :D). Would've been a bad signing but Lou to sign Niedermayer for 1.5 more a year than Pronger.
