What do you guys think of Erik Cole as a senator?

I think he could be that PF the team needs.

He is young, cheaper than most, and has potential. This probably means the Canes wouldn't give him up..unless the deal is sweet

Thoughts?

You won?t be hearing any arguments from me on Eric Cole and I think he would be a great fit in Ottawa. All my fellow Sens fans are probably sick of me singing the Eric Cole song. I?ve been suggesting him for a trade for a few years now but my wishes haven?t worked andcome true yet? Neither has my threatening letters to Muckler.
Why have you heard some rumors?

No, I haven't heard any rumours..sad to say.

I use him in NHL 2005, on the sens, and he seems to compliment the forwards well. Game breaker, I'd say. I know, its just a game!

But anyway..I'd think the Canes would bite if you offered a package including Phillips :coffee:

I'm sure we'd all love to have him here, and he isn't too expensive to fit to the cap. We'd likely have to overpay but it never hurts to kick the tires.

If the geniuses at EA sports think he'd be a good fit then I'm sold. That will be a good point for my next letter to Muckler =]
The problem with that trade is our depth in D. Our 6 now are IMO very good top six but after that it's up in the air. We have Mezerov who could be ready and I'm not to sure about Lyamin. Either way Philips is a free agent next year and it would be IMO a great trade for the Sens

Assuming we can sign the A-Train to a fair, long-term contract.....

If one of our soon-to-be UFA defenseman goes it has to be Redden IMO. Aside from being the higest paid of the trio, he has buckled under pressure while Chara/Phillips have riased their games. He's got good offense but we have one of the most potent forward groups in the league..... and Meszaros projects to be a nice PP QB himself. Not to mention Chara is good for 40+ points. We'd still have a top-4 of Chara/Phillips, de Vries/Vochenkov which is pretty solid and Redden + _____ could very well land us a legit #1 goalie / first-line powerforward - a much bigger fish than Erik Cole.

Phillips would be easier to retain down the road aswell. Chara is one of a kind in the league, obviously we'll do everything in our power to keep him in Ottawa.

Lyamin definatly took a step back last season, but we can take our time with him as Meszaros/Lee are more blue-chip prospects on the blueline.
