The Toronto Maple Leafs have just become a lot younger

Sportsnet has learned NHL veterans Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk have agree to 2 year deals with the Florida Panthers.

Good luck in Florida guys. You will be missed in Toronto. I wonder who the leafs will sign to replace these two? Glen Murray, I think might as well buy his ticket to Toronto.

1.5 is the number that I heard we were offering. Also, I'm not sure the leafs were willing to go multi-year with them.

I understand the thinking in that, giving them multi year deals and for that price was just far too much I think, I guess it frees up some room to sign a guy like Murray or Allison though.

Too bad to see these guys go to the Panthers, but I guess I can openly admit that I like them as hockey players now that they are not with Cherry and Cole's team.

Too bad. In all honesty, since I started coming to these online forums and witnessed all the Leaf bashing, I haven't had a hate-on for the Leafs like I once did. Damn you NewfieJohn and your brainwashing techniques!!!

Word was that Iron Mike wanted some leadership and was willing to open up his wallet. Florida WILL make the playoffs this year.. in 03-04 they just missed on Luongo's back.. this year they'll have an even better core (Jokinen/Bouwmeester/Luongo) and the supporting cast is only getting better.

Florida eh? I think Jacques Martin may send both of them to the minors for some defensive training. Just for a few months.... to scrub some of that Quinn off. :]

Keenan is almost as sneaky as Lacroix. Iron Mike is rebuilding yet another team and will probably be fired before the team has a good season, ala the Blues.
